PeerStorage is a project aimed at giving users control over their personal data. In addition to the issues discussed in the pages of the site, there is another one: Artificial Intelligence.
An AI acts (makes decisions, or recommendations) in the interest of its owner (at this stage it is interesting to note that one can speak of an owner for an AI, but this is another debate). If the AI belongs to the user, it will act in the user’s interest. If it belongs to a company or a community, it will act for them.
Since an AI needs data to learn and then to make decisions, it is in the user’s interest that his data be accessible only by AIs under his control (think of a personal assistant). PeerStorage therefore aims to deprive third party AIs, i.e. those outside the user’s control, of personal data.
